What does the future of stock trading look like?

As a design team, our goal was to redesign an aging web ecosystem from the ground up, transforming technical complexity into a high-performance, professional-grade browser-based trading experience.

A complete redesign of the Questrade Pro trading platform, featuring real-time charting, options chain analysis, and performance monitoring.

Product strategy

Understanding how this new platform fits within Questrade's multi-LoB organization across web, mobile, and desktop.

Project management

A project of this caliber and ambiguity truly tested our team's ability to plan ahead and stay organized within the timeline we were given.

Prototyping & Testing

Iterating relentlessly on design concepts with continuous user testing to drive data-informed results.

Trading is a competitive space

Decisions about where to hold, spend, and trade money are ones that many people do not take lightly. The modern fintech landscape has changed drastically over the past few years, giving users a wide variety of options such as Robinhood, Webull, Moomoo, and IBKR to name a few.

The bar is constantly being raised—it is now standard for any trading platform to be efficient, customizable, and capable of handling the information density required for modern trading. The challenge for our team was to not only redesign a complex ecosystem but also build a competitive platform that will stand the test of time.

Trading in the 21st century

This project was a unique design-led opportunity to navigate high ambiguity and define the direction for a flagship product. We applied our design expertise to transform technical complexity into a streamlined, high-performance experience focused entirely on optimizing the trader's decision-making journey.

Speed & Efficiency

Optimizing trade execution through smarter information architecture.

Flexibility & Familiarity

Allowing users to tailor their terminal to their specific professional needs.

Clarity under complexity

Transform an information-dense environment into an actionable and scannable interface.

A workspace that adapts to you

Modular workspace architecture

We designed a modular widget system that lets traders arrange their workspace exactly how they want. Each widget — charts, watchlists, order entry, news — can be resized, repositioned, and saved as custom layouts.

Using a widget-based system allows traders to customize and surface the information relevant to them at any given moment.

Strategy builder

Build your strategy directly from the option chain and conduct in-depth P&L analysis without leaving your screen.

Embedded Research AI

With Boosted AI, traders can get the information, research, and confidence they need without leaving the platform.

Performance tracking

A first-of-its-kind offering from a Canadian brokerage—a centralized performance dashboard to track, journal, and log trades.

Welcome to Questrade Pro

We delivered a trading masterpiece that provides power without clutter and depth without complexity. Launched in open beta, Questrade Pro has successfully redefined the browser-based workspace as a performance-driven environment shaped around the individual.

Craft behind the curtain

It's difficult to describe the feeling of spending the last two years working day after day on something, only to finally see it reach its first milestone: open beta. Behind the marketing and launch videos are hours spent perfecting that last feature with engineering and product, or pushing that final pixel to the highest fidelity.

There have been many learnings, ranging from building a design system to understanding the intricacies of trading tools, but at the end of the day, I'm most proud to see something I've built being used in the real world by customers who genuinely enjoy it.
